No Pants 2010 Official Recap
01.20.10
No Pants is in its ninth year and this is the third year DC has participated in the ride. It definitely turned some heads this year and received some serious attention. While secretly our goal is to produce a mission so original and awesome it completely upstages anything Improv Everywhere has done (shhh – don’t tell Charlie) No Pants has almost become an international holiday that everybody loves to celebrate.
We had 400 dedicated participants this year along with numerous organizations helping out or on-scene to witness the event. Because we had some problems last year blocking the metro entrance, the entire group was split into months and entered separately.
This year was even big enough to attract our very own pedobear to the event.
After a few quick instructions, the crowd staggered their entrance to the Metro at L’Enfant Plaza and readied themselves to de-pants as soon as the train left the station. Participants then spread out and began acting as in-character as possible.
As soon as our riders flooded the Metro, many people began smiling, laughing and acting very, very confused.
After more than a full hour of wondering around on the metro, it was time to wrap it up and head to COBALT and LEVEL ONE who graciously hosted our Afterparty. They included half priced burgers, drink specials, and a “pants check” at the door so we could continue pantsless well into the night.
The mission was a complete success. Not only did we get some good responses and reactions from the crowd, we had an awesome afterparty and a lot of unexpected media coverage. Fortunately, the event hasn’t yet been completely overrun by media and we were able to keep with the spirit of the mission. It was impressive to see some of the more notable media outlets represented though.
Some of the better media coverage we received includes the Washington Post video of the event here:
Update! The Wall Street Journal just posted their footage of the day’s event
Also Fox News ran a 10 minute webcast interview with Agent Witzenburg. You can catch that here

Thank you to everyone who showed up, helped out, and made no-pants metro ride a complete success!

Just sayin’, I love the new(ish?) site. I got the RSS on my feed for updates and it’s great.
